World Galgo Day
A day of protest against the cruel killing of Spanish Greyhounds
The hunting season in Spain ends on January 31st. Afterwards, the cruel killing and abandonment of Galgos, the Spanish Greyhounds used for hunting, begins. Animal rights activists take to the streets on February 1st to protest this practice.
February 1st is World Galgo Day. Demonstrations against the killing of these Spanish greyhounds are taking place not only in Spain, but also throughout Europe and even in the USA (California, Florida, and Atlanta). The locations and dates of the individual Galgo marches are listed on the website of the Spanish association “No a la caza” (No to Hunting), NAC for short. In Berlin and Cologne, animal rights activists will take to the streets as early as January 31st, starting at 1 p.m. In Berlin, they will gather in front of the Brandenburg Gate.
